The Druid Pack
Some years ago, the Druid-Magi Lisanor desired to breed special guardians for her personal estate and the small forest she protected and cared for. She researched many companions and beasts before finally chosing the Silvian Alphyn. The Silvian Alphyns were intelligent, social, and tireless, as well as fiercely protective. Fearless and tough, they possessed excellent senses and were loyal and loving with proper training. With their greenish fur, thick golden-brown manes, and the delicate patterns of pale stripes on their backs, the Silvian Alphyns also blended in perfectly with Lisanor’s forest-estate. Once she had decided, the Druid-Magi carefully found the eggs and used spells to help enhance the natural abilities and traits of the beasts, tending them lovingly for several generations.
After years of gentle magicks and careful crosses, the Druid Pack was created. Lisanor’s breeding and tending had given this particular pack of Alphyns more size than average. The size of a large hound (instead of small as most Alphyns are), the Druid Pack is sturdy, fierce protectors with a good deal of intelligence; well able to tell friend from foe and deal with each accordingly. Due to their larger size and thicker builds, they are somewhat less stealthy than their kin, but make up for it in cunning tactics and impressive strength. With jaws and talons even more powerful than the average Alphyns, they are the formidable guardians Lisanor was hoping for.
In recent years, as the Druid Pack has grown, Lisanor has decided to offer hatchlings and even grown Alphyns to others to act as guardians for their homes, estates, and forests. However, she is very fond of her beloved Alphyns and entrusts them only to Magi whom promise to treat them with the care and respect she does.

As they are said to be similar to hounds and the size of small dogs, I picture the normal Alphyn as about the size of a beagle: roughly 15 inches tall and about 25-30 pounds. For the Druid Pack, I picture them as closer to the Rhodesian Ridgeback in terms of size and weight: roughly 25 inches at the shoulder and 70-80 pounds. These makes them easier to spot than the normal Alphyn, but large enough to be more effective protectors and guardians, able to handle larger creatures. Instead of being fast, sly, and quick like a fox (as I think of the standard smaller Alphyn), I picture them hunting and working more like a pride of lions or wolves.
Specifically bred as guardians and protectors, they tend to be a bit more serious and steady than the average Alphyn, as well as a bit more reserved about making friends. However, they are focused, calm creatures; completely trustworthy around children and hatchlings. They get along well with other companions so long as they do not consider them a threat to themselves or what they are protecting.
