Re: THE LADY OR THE TIGER CONTEST (everyone wins a prize)

Post by novawatcher »

There was once a tyrant king who was a semi barrbarian. He enjoyed bloodshed. One of the towns favorite thing to do was to watch a man prove his innocence or die trying. There were two doors, exsactly like eachother, the only difference was that behind one there was a beautiful maiden, behind the other was a blood thirsty tiger.
A man fell in love with one of the kings children. She was to be queen when her father passed. They happily stayed together for many months without anyone knowing. It wasn't long before he found out. He ordered the man prove his guilt with the tiger. He was cast into the pit as spectatores looked on in sadness to lose such a fine man. The princess watched coldly from her chair beside the king. She knew that behind one door was another beautiful maiden. She had looked at her lover with longing in her eyes, the princess didn't like it. She looked to her lover, he at her, She flicked her hand to the right. The man walked to the door and opened it, and the tiger burst forth, its hungry roar filling the black pit. The man staggered backwards, the echoing rumbles falling throughout the pit. The tiger leaped, driving the man against the floor. The man stared, trembling, into the half open maw of the slavering tiger, staring into its bloodshot eyes, and staring into the distance at the daughter of the king. A bead of saliva fell onto the man's chest.

The king watched, eager anticipation shining in his eyes. The daughter looked at the king, and a plot began to form in her mind.

The tiger's claws dug into the man's chest as it leaned forward even more, its rank breath billowing into the man's face. The man grabbed at the collar that coiled around the tiger's neck with a gloved hand. It was a tough, metal studded leather thing, yet it tore away easily in his grip, showing a glowing red interior. The tiger froze, its blood shot eyes widening. Glowing, blue runes ran along the tiger's lean body, its eyes now glowing with the same color as the runes. The orange coat bleached white to the amazement of the spectators, then became transparent. The weight lifted off the man and the glowing tiger rose into the air, its pure light radiating and falling upon the faces of all who witnessed. The tiger roared, and the king felt a tremor of fear. The tiger descended until it landed upon the balcony where the king and his daughter sat. The king stood up in anger, but then a flower of blood blossomed on his chest and he shuddered, staring down at the blood which dripped to the floor. The king jerked, and fell to his knees. Behind him, the daughter held a bloodied knife. The tiger looked at the daughter, then padded forward to the man and touched him with a paw. Grey crept along the body, and the king, now dead, turned to stone. The tiger looked at the daughter in the eye, then jumped lightly and easily into the air, and faded away.

Aro!! :D *posts*
Spoiler
The air was grimy, thick with dust and the odor of sweaty peasants blood-thirstily roaring from the stands below her. They all came for the entertainment, the tension, the possibility of gore. These people… every last one of them were like her father; barbaric in their own sense. Even on such a muggy day as it was, the fact chilled her to the bone.

In a moment, the stadium silenced as if there had never been any ruckus exploding from it, but it had. A swift look, the princess took, and she was looking into the lovely, chocolate brown eyes of her lover. The man who she had spent many spring evenings with, sitting beneath the maples outside of the town’s limits; the man who she was comfortable to be carefree around as the night breeze caressed their bodies; the man who held her heart with only one simple look.

She ached and that split second before she made her decision, made her feel centuries old. Shall she watch this man, with his charming looks and a pure, sweet soul be torn before her eyes, or shall she watch this man, the man she loved, wed a fair maiden-leaving her to spend the rest of her days empty, alone, and betrayed.

Those deep irises looked up to the princess, ever-so-expectantly. He knew that she had discovered which heavy door would end his fate and which would permit him live. Never before had the young lover ever felt so vulnerable, but he was confident in their love; believing in the effect of their sweet embraces and touches, in her decision.

Abruptly, the princess brushed her hand to the right; such a simple, miniscule movement, but one action that overjoyed the confident, young lover. Many years after this impulse choice, the princess would wake up sobbing in the night. She had lost the man of her life. It was a feeling that made the princess heartbroken, for she had been the one to concrete the way for him to exit her life forever. It was an event that she would never forget how it played out, since the memories taunted her in her dreams, but also… she would never forget nor dismiss the feelings that enveloped her; the feelings that influenced which way her hand directed her lover.

Golden, flowing locks; a smile with ruby red lips, as she thought of her lover in the arms of another, the barbaric blood of her father running through her own veins began to boil as the green-eyed monster of jealousy reared its ugly head into the princess’s heart. Pounding, torturous, until her vision blurred red, the princess would not allow it! She had flicked her hand to the right, defiant.

Ecstatic, the young lover trotted to the door and proceeded to heave and tug the door ajar. When the sound of a low growl reached his ears, he was truly shocked. The young lover looked up at the princess with those same enticing, brown eyes as before, asking the question, “Why?” before he began to run for his life.

The princess hid behind her hands, though peeking from between her fingers as the grotesque scene of the rampant, jungle cat devouring the once hopeful man unfolded. “Because you are mine,” the princess answered before she picked up her skirts and sashayed out of the stadium, never again to return to the place where she had damned the love of her life.

A man fell in love with one of the kings children. She was to be queen when her father passed. They happily stayed together for many months without anyone knowing. It wasn't long before he found out. She knew that behind one door was another beautiful maiden. She had looked at her lover with longing in her eyes, the princess didn't like it. She looked to her lover, he at her, she flicked her hand to the right. The man walked to the door and opened it.....

And the tiger roared free. Growling, it pounced on the man, holding him down. The man stared at the princess, and the tiger followed his eyes. It spoke in a deep, gravelly voice, "Did you tell the man to open my door?" The princess blanched, but nodded. The tiger let the man up, and instead leapt into the stands and pinned the princess down. "You loved him did you not?" She nodded again. "Then why would you want to sacrifice him?" The princess started to cry, tears flowing in a steady stream down her face.

"I was afraid he would fall in love with her," the princess whimpered. "That is no reason to kill him!" The tiger roared, shoving its face down closer to hers, fangs bared. The princess clenched her eyes shut. The tiger turned its attention to the king. "It's you who ordered this, was it not?" The king stood stock-still, choosing not to answer. The tiger lashed out with a paw, slicing through the kings leg. "Was it not?"

The king nodded. "You are both selfish. You would kill your daughter's lover for no reason other than being her lover, and she would kill him so he won't fall in love with another woman. For that, you should both die." The tiger's form glowed intensely, and was almost immediately replaced by a woman. She was tall and slender, with long fiery orange hair and huge, orange and black striped wings. She held a long, slender sword with a golden hilt in her hand, and raised it, only to have the man cling to her arm.

"Please, spare them." The woman stared at him with golden eyes. "You would spare them, even knowing they would kill you?" He nodded. The woman-or rather, angel-shook her head. "I cannot do that. My master has decreed that only the selfless shall live in this land." The man, shaking with anger, shouted, "What sort of angel are you?!" The angel looked at him and said, "An avenger. I reap those my master says are not fit to live in this place." The man sat heavily on the ground, shaking with tears, as the avenger carried out her work.

"Listen to me," she said in a much gentler voice, "the maiden locked behind the other door is the princess' younger sister. Go let her out." The man nodded, and standing walked heavily over to the door. He opened it, and found the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen looking at him. She was tall and slender, with long black hair and electric blue eyes. The avenger stood between them. "You two are fit for each other-you are selfless and kind. You will be the next king and queen." With that being said, a beam of golden light came down from the heavens, and the avenger was gone.

***

The avenger's words were true. In the next year, the land became a much gentler, kinder place to live. And the king and queen's first child was a gorgeous little girl with fiery orange hair and golden eyes.

At the sight of what was behind the door was fierce and was monstrously hairy. It was indeed a tiger but seemed as if it haven’t eaten for days! The princess stared at her lover in fright. He was aware of what the lady behind the other door could do. Quickly he opens the other door. The other door had the mother tiger in it. This tiger haven’t eaten in weeks! The two tigers surrounded him, nowhere to go no place to turn. Suddenly the princess jumps in the arena with her sharp, deadly sword. She slices the younger tigers head. The head rolled to the feet of the mother. The tiger gives an immense roar and charges at her! She takes her lovers hand and jumps upon the tigers back riding it like a horse. The tiger was shaking them off. At the last second she slices its head and crowned champion. Her lover pulls a tooth from the tiger’s mouth, places it in the princesses hand and says “for you my beloved”.
