It's getting pretty bad on my FB Feed. Some of the proposed herbal "cures" and oils are toxic or contain toxic elements. They use to be reasonable with things like Cinnamon being caustic and causing skin burns. Now? It is as if they are merging or joining forces with the anti-vaxxer crowd. It's absolutely ridiculous. It's at the point where I would not be surprised at all if they began touting tobacco because its 'all natural'.
Seriously.... it's only a matter of time before the facebook "witches" kill someone.
Nux Vomica is Strychnine folks. Bitter Almonds are Cyanide.
I'm pretty sure this sort of thing already has killed someone. Some idiot parents decided to put eucalyptus essential oil in a humidifier to help their kid with a cough. Surprise, eucalyptus oil is a lung irritant and is toxic when so highly concentrated. So not only did it not help, it killed the poor kid.
The absolutely stupid part about this "natural treatments" craze is that like, if a thing is actually effective, chances are it has the same compound as a drug (because it turns out. that's where a lot of drugs come from???). Willow bark just sounds less scary than acetylsalicylic acid, for example, but you can get things like aspirin in nice controlled doses whereas you really, really can't with "all natural" stuff.
