The first thing the owner, magi or not, of an arcus feli kitten must do is earn its trust. The only way to keep an arcus feli is to befriend it early on, or it will travel so far so fast that it may never return. Luckily, arcus feli kittens are curious creatures, and are content to attend to their magi and play games with them. Chasing magically conjured flashes of light is a favored way to play with an arcus feli kitten. When not playing, they enjoy snuggling in warm blankets or on their magi's lap, their high-pitched purrs a good sign that they have found a friend.
Arcus feli are impossible to capture unless they wish it - they cannot be held against their will by any means. Many magi thought their power was teleportation for a long time, but flashes of light across one's vision as they moved from one place to another cast doubt. Others, mostly those from Alveus, thought that they were moving so fast that they couldn't be clearly seen, and that became the prevailing theory. Still others think they move between dimensions, between the planes of life and death, and their fur is dyed with flashes of color from their passing through the veil. However they manage it, they can appear at one place and then at another in the blink of an eye, a flash of rainbow color the only sign that they moved. A magi once claimed their arcus feli traveled so fast that it went to the moon and back in 2.6 seconds, bringing a moonrock back with it, but no one believed him.
