Only A Hex

Even if you were rain, and I stood in a desert, I would refuse even a sip
You see, I know better than to bring my lips anywhere near you for what seems like a refreshing dip
For you are a vile rot in disguise, only looking to bring about my demise
Looking to find pleasure and bliss in my pained cries

Some go looking for the joyful torture of a false feeling
Thinking that eventually, their invisible wounds will start healing
Yet, the injuries remain, forever more
Keeping you grounded, when all you wish to do is soar

You go about life, always looking for this plague
And no matter what, the feelings are always ever so vague
There one day, gone the next
As if it were only a hex

So, if you ask me, do I love
I’ll give you no response, just a little shove
Because I’m too afraid of getting abused
As it seems love only ever leaves you battered and confused

With nothing to show for it in the end, except another wound
And your feelings too soon out of tune
I’m alright, you repeatedly say
When all you really feel is an emotionless gray

This poem really spoke to me. It's well-written, relatable, and emotional- good job.

Thank you very much for the compliment, Silvrechan, I appreciate it. To tell you the truth, I am much better with books, instead of poems. I tend to flail around when I need a poem. :3 But this one turned out okay. Thank you again!
