I found a female praying mantis in my apartment building. I don't know how it got there. O_o I love them, even if I was a little freaked out when I saw that they eat their mates.

I believe I've heard that it actually helps with the mating somehow when the female decapitates the male. I could make a joke about that, but...no.

Anyone know what that arthropod ed in the HWYD thread is? Never seen anything quite like it.

Oh yeah, I saw that adorable thing. I have no idea, I don't know much about invertebrate taxonomy except for those that live in lakes and ponds.

I'm kinda surprised that something so bright and pink can survive without being eaten. It's very cute and pretty though!

That's what gave me my doubts. Then again, it could be some dead benthic specimen that floated up. Not likely/possible at all.
