Between slightly malicious gryphons, unwilling puvias, and a lazy enox, Felshara had just about resigned herself to walking everywhere when she spotted a female hippogryph for sale. The price was extremely reasonable, which made Felshara suspicious, given the reputation of hippogryphs for being snappish around people other than their owners, but she decided to take the risk. Bane, however, turned out to be the most dedicated traveling companion Felshara could have wished for, and quickly became one of Felshara's staunchest supporters, inspiring each new hippogryph to follow her lead. As a result, Felshara gave Bane (and her mate, Hunter) the family name Dragonfriend, in honor of this loyalty (and to show they were the opposite of the temperamental Dragonbane family).
