As you walk along the stream, you begin to feel cold, very cold. The creature you have brought along with you either huddles near your neck, chest, or legs, and you can feel them shivering as well. You reach a hand down to comfort them, and to your surprise, you see a firelight in the distance. It is distorted, as though you are looking at it through wavy glass.
You see a few figures near the fire, also very distorted. They are beginning to become larger as you approach, and you realize that you are not looking through glass at them, but in fact, ICE! A largish Koi is swimming slowly through the half-frozen stream, and you see that all of its fins are covered with ice, and many of the scales are semi-see through.
This Koi surfaces, once again very slowly, and flips a Koi egg, completely cover in ice, to you. As you gently take the egg, it freezes your hand and you nearly drop it. You look up to question the Koi, but the parent Koi has disappeared.
