For years the Targaryens have held the throne of Westeros. So proud are they, they've spent the centuries mating among themselves so as to keep the bloodline pure and free of outsiders. Aerys ll, the Mad King, was especially cruel, and killed Rickard Stark and his son after the king's son was accused of kidnapping the Stark daughter. This action led to war known as Robert's Rebellion, in which Robert Baratheon rose up against the Mad King to claim the throne for himself. Aerys ll was killed, and the only remaining Targaryens are Viserys lll and his young sister, Daenerys, who fled across the sea. Though they've lost everything, the two children swear to return to Westeros, take vengeance on Robert, and reclaim their rightful place. Their motto: Fire and Blood.
